Third Inter School Stem Fest held

For the third time, the Inter School Stem Fest was held in a two-day multi-dimensional event. This two-day program was organized by International Hope School Bangladesh located at Uttara of the capital. The programs started on February 16 at 10 am. 50 famous schools of the capital participated in this science festival. STEM Fest is a novel science event this year with the participation of sixth to twelfth grade students from the best schools in the country.

Around 1500 students participated in 115 science projects. The organizers said that the modern technology-rich projects in this festival with biochemistry, robotics, physics, chemistry and other science-related topics have introduced the students' scientific mindset and scientific thinking.

The opening ceremony of the festival was held on Friday, February 16 at 10 am in the school premises. The program started with Surah Fatiha and National Anthem.

Dhaka 18 Constituency Member of Parliament Mr. Md. Khosru Chowdhury was present as the chief guest in this festival. Professor of Biochemistry and Microbiology Department of North South University Mr. Abdul Khalek PhD and Pro-Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Branch of UCSI University of Malaysia Prof. Datwar Mohammad Saleh were present as special guests. Honorable Principal of International Hope School Bangladesh Ms. Roksana Jerin delivered the welcome speech.

While speaking as the chief guest, Dhaka 18 Constituency Member of Parliament Md. Khosru Chowdhury praised the festival. He commented that such an arrangement will take Bangladesh further in science practice. He also expressed hope that through these science-oriented students, Bangladesh will be able to achieve a position of glory in the world.

In her welcome speech, Roksana Jerin, Principal of International Hope School Bangladesh said- "The range of STEM Fest is increasing day by day. Not only our school, this year 50 schools have joined our competition. This year, our Inter School STEM Festival is being held for the third time. From the very beginning, the students were very interested in this science festival. Through such competitions, students are proving their skills in science and modern technology.

“Many of the STEM Fest participants over the past few years have won second places in international competitions in Dubai. This is our big achievement.  this time again the students are participating in this competition and they will earn fame at the international level,” she hoped.

The aim of this organization is to make students more active, energetic and creative in science practice. It will encourage the students towards innovative thinking and practical process of science in practical life. In this festival, there are some wonderful pictures of the science mentality of the new generation of students.

Along with scientific talks and exhibitions, there were some fascinating cultural performances in the auditorium. The school students performed some cultural performances including party songs- 'Deyale Deyal', 'Phirye Dao'.

On the first day of the STEM Fest, that was Friday, February 16, the event organized was the 'Hopean Math Olympiad'. About 900 students from different schools participated in it. Among them 15 students have been awarded.

On the second day of the festival, Saturday, February 17, various stalls were opened in the school grounds from 10 am. Each stall had a variety of science-related exhibits. There were 115 projects based on modern technology. There was also the 'Hopean Biochemistry Olympiad'. About 600 students participated in it. This year the competition was held in 3 categories. One category was only for the students of class VI, one category was formed by the students from class VII to IX and the other category was for the students of class X to XII. About 1500 students participated in the competition and exhibition in these categories.

Each stall in the school grounds had various projects, along with all the information related to the projects written on the board, the students explained the uses and possibilities of the projects to the visitors. This year's notable projects included Metro Rail, Bangabandhu Tunnel, Security Drone, Robotic Arm, Remote Control Car, Self-Balancing Remote, Smart Robots, Paper Recycle Machine and various other advanced projects. Two students dressed up as scientists Aristotle and Newton. Besides, there was a special exhibition titled 'NASA Rover Display' on both days.

Attractive gifts were given to the students who participated in the Inter School STEM Fest. Everyone got a notebook, key ring, pen, cap and food. Winners received awards and certificates as prizes.

STEM Fest has already turned into a significant school science festival in Bangladesh. By participating in this festival, students are expected to be able to compete with the advanced countries of the world in science. A group of students who participated in the first STEM Fest participated in the competition titled 'Dubai Global Challenge' held in Dubai last year and won the second place and increased the reputation of Bangladesh in the world.

International Hope School Bangladesh was established in 1996. Since its inception, this school has been working relentlessly in academics, cultural and intellectual practices as well as scientific practices.
